3 suspected ‘pushers’ fall in San Fernando drug sting
SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – In relation to the Revitalized “PNP KASIMBAYANAN” Program, joint personnel of San Fernando City police, in coordination with PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency) RO1, conducted a buy-bust operation at Barangay Tanqui, San Fernando City, La Union which resulted to the arrest of three suspects.
Colonel Fernando Acain, Jr., chief of San Fernando City police, reported that the suspects were nabbed after selling one plastic sachet of dried marijuana worth P600 and weighing five grams.
Authorities recovered another dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops with an estimated weight of more or less three grams and valued at P360, buy-bust money, a plastic sachet of 0.2 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P1,360, a Ziploc containing dried marijuana leaves, drug paraphernalia, and three mobile phones.
Inventory of the confiscated pieces of evidence was conducted at the place of operation with the presence of DOJ Rep. Arnold Nisperos, Media Rep. Rudolph Madera, and Bgy. Tanqui Captain Godofredo A. Flores Jr, said Acain.
The suspects will be facing charges of violation of RA 9165.
Two of the arrested suspects were students from TESDA and DMMMSU-North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union, and the other is a resident of Malabon, Metro Manila, whose identities were withheld temporarily.
“The successful drug buy-bust operations stemmed from information coming from the community. This is a very significant manifestation of the good impact of PNP’s Revitalized KASIMBAYANAN Program. The City of San Fernando PNP is likewise monitoring our schools because two of the apprehended drug suspects were students. If taken for granted, more students would be very likely to be influenced by the evils of illegal drugs. Coordination with school officials is on its way so as to alarm them of the recent incident,” Acain said.
“To the remaining drug peddlers and users in our city who refuse to heed our call to stop your wrongdoings, you can run, but you can never hide. To the people of San Fernando City, let’s continue our collaboration and partnership towards lasting peace and progress that we all dream of,” Acain added.
