211 suspects nabbed in CL anti-crime drive
AGENTS of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 on Tuesday scored big in their anti-criminality campaign with the arrest of 211 lawbreakers including 36 known drug personalities in the region, PRO3 director Brigadier General Valeriano T. de Leon said.
In a report to Philippine National Police chief General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, the official said that apart from the 36 drug offenders, also arrested were 28 persons who are the subject of warrants of arrest for various crimes, 11 for illegal gambling activities, 134 for violation of local ordinances and two for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
De Leon said that last Wednesday’s operations likewise resulted in the seizure of more than P1.2 million worth of shabu, over P126,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves, three illegal firearms and P1,774 in illegal gambling money.
The biggest anti-drug accomplishment of the PRO3 was scored by the Bulacan Police Provincial Office headed by Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe.
Around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, members of the San Rafael Municipal Police Station, the Bulacan PPO’s 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and the local Highway Patrol Group conducted a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Maronquillo which led in the confiscation of 12 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing around P540,000 worth of the so-called “poor man’s cocaine.”
Arrested during the sting were Manolo Gutierrez, a resident of Sagrada Famila in Hagonoy municipality, and Emerito Martin of Bgy. Sta. Elena, also in Hagonoy.
Five other known drug personalities in Bulacan identified as Emmanuel Torres and Jess Revilla, both residents of Caloocan City; Michael Ferry of Aliaga, Nueva Ecija; Airish Inza Cruz of Cabanatuan City; and Christopher Tamayo of Bgy. San Agustin in Hagonoy were also arrested in separate anti-narcotics operations in San Miguel and Rafael municipalities and in San Jose del Monte City.
Recovered from the possession of the five were 24 plastic sachets containing shabu, half-a-kilo of dried marijuana bricks and the buy-bust money paid to them by poseurs.
Cajipe described the 40-year-old Gutierrez as the 6th most wanted drug personality in Hagonoy. Martin, 51, is also included in the drug watch list of the local police, he added.
Cajipe said that lawmen led by Lieutenant Col. Ferdinand Germino arrested the two suspects who yielded a total of 79 grams of shabu and the buy-bust money topped by four marked P1,000 bills.
The suspects’ grey Toyota Grandia van with plate No. NDA 9885 was impounded by the Bulacan police.
All arrested drug suspects are now facing non-bailable charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said Cajipe.
