PALAYAN CITY – Two Sports Utility Vehicle-riding business partners were apprehended on Tuesday after allegedly entering a subdivision site and illegally selling housing unit lots using fake documents without the knowledge of its owner, it was reported yesterday.

Nabbed were alleged business partners Raquel Pajarillo, 36, of Laya West, Tabuk City, Kalinga, and Joseph Atara, 49, of Alicia, Isabela.

Their arrest was carried out after the city police got a phone call from the owner of Acacia Green Field Homes in Bgy. Manacnac that two persons came to the site on board a gray Toyota Fortuner with license plates UTI-331 at 11 a.m.

The duo allegedly introduced themselves as business associates allegedly selling unit lots of the subdivision which is reserved for members of the police, military, Bureau of Fire Protection and government workers.

The housing project was unveiled last month during ground-breaking rites led by City Mayor Adrianne Mae “Rianne” J. Cuevas and National Housing Authority general manager Marcelino P. Escalada Jr.

“Nagtataka yung may-ari ng lupa pati ang contractor kung paano nakapasok sa site itong dalawang suspect eh kasalukuyang binubuldozer pa lang ang lugar. Tapos nakakuha kami ng hawak nila na dokumento habang nag-uusap sila,” Merano told Journal Group in a phone interview Thursday.

Upon verification, however, Merano said the documents presented by the two suspects in supposedly selling the housing units were all fake.

Merano added that charges for land grabbing, trespassing, estafa, falsification of public documents and violation of Republic Act 11332 have been filed against the arrested suspects before the city prosecutor’s office, docketed under NPS Nos. III-II-INQ-21D-41,42,43,44, and 45 dated April 6, 2021.
