2 men collared for stealing cellphone from Batangas store

TWO men were arrested for allegedly stealing a cellphone from a store in Ibaan, Batangas early Thursday morning.

Ibaan Municipal Police Station chief Major Luisito M. Limbo said the arrested suspects were identified as DMC Villa Santiago and Zingy Rizaldy Dyogi Velasco.

Initial investigation showed that at around 12:40 a.m. on April 8, a call was received by the Ibaan MPS from the owner of T and J cellphone store informing that the alarm of his stall located along Macatangay St. Population, activated.

Upon receipt personnel of the station immediately proceeded to the referred stall.

Santiago was arrested while inside the cellphone store.

Velasco was collared while driving the getaway Red Ford Ranger without a plate number while attempting to flee from the scene.

Police recovered from the crime scene a cut padlock, hydraulic steel cutter, and a black backpack bag containing a bolt cutter, hydraulic steel cutter, Oppo cellphone, long nose plier, and a notebook.

Recovered from Santiago was a sling bag containing a .38 caliber firearm, five live ammo for a .38 caliber and hand grenade.

Recovered from the vehicle driven by Velasco was a .38 caliber firearm with five live bullets, hand grenade, and five cellphones.

The suspects now under the custody of this station and facing appropriate charges.
