2 MC-riders held for P.7M cooking oil heist

LLANERA, Nueva Ecija – Two suspects tagged in the P700,000 robbery-hold-up of a delivery truck in nearby Palayan City were captured during hot pursuit operations conducted by the police here on Tuesday.

Town police head Captain Ronan James Eblahan said the two motorcycle-riding suspects – one from Bgy. San Isidro and the other suspect is from Bgy. Uno, both of Laur, Nueva Ecija were nabbed following a brief chase in Bgy. San Francisco at 5:40 p.m. here.

Police units put up a dragnet at the suspects’ possible exit points after a flash alarm was relayed about an Isuzu Forward truck owned by businessman Rey Carlo Lao, 28, of Bgy. Malate was robbed of about P700,000 in cash in Bgy. Aulo at 1:30 a.m. Monday.

At the station, Lao told police that the stolen cash was the proceeds of the sale of cooking oil his men collected in Cabanatuan City.

During the police investigation, it turned out that one of the truck’s two porters was an accomplice of the suspects.

Seized from the arrested suspects were two cal. 38 revolvers were used in the robbery-holdup incident.

The suspects will be facing charges of violating Republic Act 10591 (illegal possession of firearms and ammunition) and robbery-hold-up.
