
2 hurt in Marikina fire
TWO persons were injured after a fire hit a residential area yesterday morning in Barangay Tumana, Marikina City.
Fire officials said the fire struck at a house located on A. Santos Street, at around 7:47 a.m.
The first victim suffered a first-degree burn while the second, a fire volunteer, was injured in his hand.
Authorities said the fire quickly spread to 40 adjacent houses made of light materials, leaving 60 to 80 families homeless.
The Bureau of Fire Protection is still investigating the cause of the fire and the amount of property damage.
Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro personally visited the area to assess the situation of the fire victims.
