A HUSBAND and wife policemen are now under investigation after three mediamen complained them of harassment while covering a land dispute in Pastrana, Leyte last Friday.

Leyte Police Provincial Office Officer-in-Charge Lieutenant Colonel Ricky Reli has already ordered the relief of Police Staff Sergeant Rhea May Baleos of the Sta. Fe Municipal Police Station and her husband, PSSgt. Ver Baleos of the Pastrana MPS in the aftermath of the complaint.

The couple are now being probed after three reporters complained they were also got hit by bullets during a land dispute in Sitio Cancamartes, Barangay Jones, Pastrana.

Reports said the policewoman got irked and puzzled why one of the three mediamen was there and taking her video without her consent.

Reli said their initial investigation showed that the incident stemmed from a land dispute between Mr. Moises Empillo and Anecita Nogal and her husband Virgilio.

Empillo claimed to be the owner of the rice field while the Nogal couple was also claiming they were the rightful owner of the property.

However, in 2017, Empillo mortgaged the rice field to the policewoman.

During the dispute, the policewoman sought the assistance of the Pastrana MPS as she and Mrs. Nogal were arguing who is the legal owner of the farm.

However, the policewoman reportedly noticed that while she and Mrs. Nogal were in a heated argument, a reporter, Noel Sianosa, was already taking video footage of their altercation, thus prompting the latter to call the latter’s attention.

She later argued with Sianosa and his two colleagues on why they were taking her video without her permission. The three reporters later claimed they heard gunshots and saw policemen in uniform.

Following the incident, the policeman couple were relieved and reassigned to the Leyte police headquarters.

They were also asked to turn over their issued firearms for a ballistics examination. Her husband was also ordered to undergo a paraffin test.
