
18-year old student dies from alleged hazing in Nueva Ecija
JAEN, Nueva Ecija – A Grade 11 student on Sunday died due to alleged hazing in this municipality.
Town police chief Maj. Herbert G. Ocumen identified the alleged hazing victim as Ren Joseph “RenJo” Bayan, 18, of Purok 6, Bgy. San Pablo.
Bayan was a student at the San Pablo National High School in this town.
The alleged hazing transpired in the nearby Bgy. San Anton in San Leonardo.
Jennifer Bayan, 28, the victim’s aunt, sought police’s help after her nephew’s lifeless body was brought to their house by two alleged members of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Investigation showed that the two suspects immediately fled to unknown direction after bringing the body of the victim to his family.
Police said the victim’s cadaver was taken to the Malgapo Funeral Services for autopsy.
In an interview, the victim’s father, Renato, 41 cried out for justice as he called on the suspects to immediately surrender to the police.
It was learned that Emelyn, the victim’s mother, who is an overseas Filipino worker in Qatar, is set to arrive home after learning of the tragedy.
Meanwhile, “hot pursuit” operations are on-going for the immediate arrest of the suspects.
