18 collared for illegal poker in San Pablo City

EIGHTEEN illegal gambling suspects were arrested by operatives of Regional Intelligence Division 4A Regional Special Operation Unit and San Pablo Police during the Anti-Illegal Gambling operation while playing mainly illegal poker in San Pablo City, Laguna, on Thursday according to Laguna Police Provincial Office (PPO) Officer-In-Charge (OIC) P/Col. Randy Glenn G Silvio.

Pursuant to the directive of P/Brig. Gen. Jose Melecio C Nartatez Jr., PRO4A, conducted a campaign against Illegal gambling with RID4A-RSOU personnel, together with the San Pablo Police, that resulted in the arrest of the suspects while playing poker around 3:20 a.m. at Sandra Torres Resort, Reverina Subdivision, Bgy. San Rafael, San Pablo City, Laguna.

Confiscated from the suspects were P461,406 bet money, a poker table, poker chips, two pieces of transparent poker chip case, one piece of aluminum poker chip case, and three decks of playing cards.

The arrested suspects are detained under the custodial facility of San Pablo Police, and will be charged with violation of PD 1602, as amended by RA 9287.

Silvio said, “We will not ignore these types of illegal gambling. I warned the illegal gamblers to stop their illegal gambling activities because they will surely be held accountable under the law.”

“One of my priorities is strengthening the campaign against various types of illegal gambling. Illegal gamblers deserve to be held accountable for their illegal activities,” added Nartatez Jr.
