ALIGNED with the celebration of Valenzuela City’s 26th cityhood anniversary and Valentine’s Day, 163 couples exchanged “I Dos” simultaneously in the “Kasalang Bayan” officiated by Mayor WES Gatchalian at La Rosa Pavillion and Casa de Polo on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
Nine-three couples from District 2 tied the knot at La Rosa Pavillion in Brgy. Gen T. De Leon and another 70 Valenzuelano couples from District 1 were wed at Casa de Polo in Bgy. Poblacion.
“Alam niyo po, 15-years ago, dito ho ako ikinasal, dito ho ang aking reception kaya napili ko ho itong venue natin dahil it brings back memory po ng aming pagsasama ng aking minamahal na asawa,” Mayor WES said in his opening speech before he officiated the wedding rites of 93 couples at La Rosa Pavillon.
Mayor WES said the free civil wedding program of the city government is held annually and is available for Valenzuelanos.
Apart from free processing of documents and application fees for marriage license, the local government also provided flowers, catering, and wedding pictures with frames for the couples.
To make their honeymoon more special and memorable, the newlyweds were granted free accommodation in a hotel located in Quezon City and were given SM gift certificate worth P500, and a grocery package as part of their wedding gifts.
“Talaga pong pinaghandaan namin ang araw na ito, gusto namin maging masaya lahat kayo dahil ang araw po ng Puso ay very, very important sa isang mag-asawa,” the mayor added.
The “Kasalang Bayan” is one of the events of the city government for the monthlong celebration of the city’s 26th Charter Day commemorated every 14th of February.
