15 ‘MJ’ parcels from courier service seized in Imus
IMUS CITY, Cavite – Fifteen suspicious parcels were found to contain packets of marijuana (MJ) leaves wrapped in RTW (ready-to-wear) bags, which arrived at the office of a well-known courier and delivery service company in Barangay Anabu 2C here, Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) IV-A Calabarzon (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) Seaport Interdiction Unit, they received a call from the courier company concerning the “suspicious” parcels, and PDEA immediately sent their men with two narcotics unit K9 dogs to sniff out the said parcels.
The two K9 dogs, named Jelly and Jango, gave an indication that the parcels had suspicious contents, so they were opened one by one in front of the courier company’s employees and revealed to contain marijuana leaves instead of clothes.
Authorities recovered an estimated 500 grams of marijuana valued at P60,000.
The confiscated dried marijuana is now in the custody of PDEA and subjected to investigation by the PDEA IV-A Laboratory Section.
