AROUND 100,000 Warays attended the campaign rally in Tacloban City last Friday to show their support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the senatorial candidates of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.

Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, a son of Leyte and a staunch supporter of President Marcos, stressed the importance of the Alysansa candidates winning, in order to continue the reforms of the administration.

Yedda K. Romualdez and Jude Acidre.

The big gathering, that was attended by high-ranking officials of national and local government, is an indication that the Waray-speaking province is one with the group of President Marcos. This is also proves that Eastern Visayas is a bailiwick of the Romualdezes and the Marcoses.

The Alyansa candidates are House Deputy Majority Leader for Communications and former Social Welfare and Development Sec. Erwin Tulfo ng ACT-CIS, former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, Senator Ramon Bong Revilla, Senator Pia Cayetano, former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, Senator Lito Lapid, Senator Imee Marcos, former Senator Manny Pacquiao, former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Senator Francis “Tol” Tolentino, at Deputy Speaker Camille Villar.

Speaker Romualdez also encouraged the voters to support the administration’s candidates running for senator, who would support the President in fast-tracking the development of the country.

The strong support of the Warays to the candidates of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas is a reflection of their continued trust in the leadership of the administration and its vision to build a stronger and more progressive Philippines.

House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs chairman Jude A. Acidre also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Taclobanons and Leyteños for showing their support to the President and the senatorial candidates of Alyansa.

“We thank our kababayan here in Tacloban and Leyte for the huge attendance in the Alyansa grand rally on Friday,” Acidre said.

According to the Tacloban City Police, more than 100,000 people attended the said rally.

Acidre is confident that the high turnout at the rally shows the wide support for President Marcos and Speaker Romualdez in Tacloban, Leyte and the entire Eastern Visayas, and would have a big contribution in the winning of the Alysansa candidates.

“After all, we consider the President as one of our own. His mother, former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos, and the Romualdezes are from Leyte,” Acidre said. “We are committed to a large majority of the votes in Leyte to the President’s candidates.”

According to the letter of Tacloban City Police director Col. Noelito Getigan to Tingog Party-list President Glenn Jaro Capucion, around 100,000 people attended the grand rally last March 14, 2025.
