Youth empowerment pushed at Bulacan Youth Congress
SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth, lauded the Bulacan Youth Congress , where he emphasized the critical role of the youth in shaping the nation’s future.
Addressing approximately 400 attendees, composed of Sanggunian ng Kabataan (SK) Chairpersons and SK Officials of the SK Federation from the entire province of Bulacan, Go reaffirmed his commitment to advancing policies that empower young leaders.
Go stated, during a video call, highlighting the power of youth in driving progress, good governance, and community development.
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth, Go has been actively pushing for programs and initiatives that promote education, sports development, and leadership training among young Filipinos. He also reiterated his advocacy of keeping the youth engaged in productive activities, reminding them to “get into sports, stay away from drugs, and always prioritize education.”
Go also expressed his full support for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), recognizing their significant contributions to grassroots governance. He encouraged the youth leaders to serve with integrity, stay grounded, and remain dedicated to the welfare of their communities. In line with this, he mentioned his authorship of Senate Bill No. 2816, which seeks to establish a four-year fixed term for barangay and SK officials.
He stressed that longer terms would allow young leaders to implement sustainable and impactful projects that benefit their communities.
He also cited his earlier support for Republic Act Nos. 11462 and 11935, which he both co-sponsored, postponing the Barangay and SK elections and granting barangay officials additional time to implement their projects and initiatives for the benefit of their constituents.
The event at Costa Palawan in Puerto Princesa City, served as a platform for young leaders to engage in discussions about governance, leadership, and their role in nation-building.
With Go’s strong advocacy for youth empowerment, the Bulacan Youth Congress successfully ignited inspiration and motivation among the attendees to be proactive agents of change in their respective communities.
