A 20-year-old man, suspected to be “high” on drugs, was arrested after allegedly creating trouble in the neighborhood while holding a handgun Thursday evening in Las Piñas City.

Las Piñas police chief P/Col. Jaime Santos said elements of CAA Police Sub-Station led by Capt. Gil Anos were conducting “Oplan Galugad” at around 8:30 p.m. when they received a call from a barangay watchman regarding trouble being created by a “gun-wielding” man at the corner of Lemon and Saging Streets, Bgy. CAA.

Santos said his men immediately responded to the area and arrested the suspect while still creating trouble and carrying a gun.

In his report to Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/Brigadier Gen. Kirby John Kraft, Santos said his men confiscated from the suspect a caliber. 9mm Pietro Ruger pistol with magazine loaded with five live ammunition, a sling camouflage bag containing a hand grenade, and two plastic sachets of shabu weighing 0.77 grams with a street value of P5,236.

Kraft lauded the personnel of Las Piñas City Police Station for their immediate response to the call of barangay official that led to the arrest of the suspect, who was later turned over to the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Las Piñas Police Station, for proper filing of complaints for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591, RA 9516 and Sec 11 of RA 9165 before the Las Piñas City Prosecutor’s Office.
