Woman held for bomb joke at Davao airport

AIRPORT authorities arrested a 59-year-old woman for allegedly cracking a bomb joke at the Davao International Airport.

Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) spokesperson Eric Apolonio said that in the report of Davao International Airport Manager Rex Obcena, a woman identified as Annabell Macose mentioned a bomb while on board a departing aircraft Cebu Pacific Flight 5J97.

The flights was carrying 221 passengers and was scheduled to Depart from Davao to Manila around 6:45 p.m., Sunday.

The woman allegedly brushed off her remark as a joke.

Aircraft personnel quickly requested security assistance from the PNP-Aviation Security Unit personnel.

The said personnel accompanied by airline agent boarded the aircraft and arrested the woman before turning her over to Sasa Police for investigation.

The rest of the passengers were then deplaned and the aircraft was repositioned to a designated isolation bay where all checked-in baggage and hand carried items were re-screened as part of security protocol.

After satisfactorily ensuring the safety of the aircraft, the flight proceeded to its destination and departed the airport at 9:11 pm., of the same day.
