A 22-YEAR-OLD woman was trapped while two others were injured when a four-storey residential building collapsed Sunday morning in Malabon City.

Malabon police chief P/Col. Amante Daro said Ronalyn Tumbokon was rescued at around 11:25 a.m. after being trapped more than four hours after the residential building located on 74, Orchids St., Brgy. Longos, collapsed at around 7 a.m.

Two others, identified as Rhodora Tumbukon and Francisco Catindoy, were also injured and rescued earlier by responding personnel of Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDDRMO) and Malabon Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). The three victims were presently confined at Ospital ng Malabon.

A report reaching the office of Col. Daro showed that the house, where the injured victims were living, was only affected by the collapsed structure which is adjacent to their abode. Families living in the collapsed residential building composed of five from Esilio family and four from Morada family were unhurt when they escaped before the structure collapsed.

The City Government of Malabon advised residents living near the collapsed building to temporarily vacate their homes until such time that investigation and assessment to be conducted by Malabon BFP and City Engineering Office ends.

Investigation regarding the incident is still being conducted but probers believed that weak foundation of the building was probably the reason why the building collapse.
