Woman, son jailed for peddling shabu in caloocan

A 39-YEAR old woman and her teenage son were arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency while allegedly conspiring to sell shabu to an undercover officer in Camarin, Caloocan City on Monday morning, PDEA chair, Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva said.

Omaima Malaco and her son Hakhim, tagged as responsible for the proliferation of illegal drugs in their neighborhood are now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the PDEA chief said.

According to Villanueva, the two were arrested around 9:30 a.m. Monday by members of the PDEA National Capital Region with the assistance of operatives from the Northern Police District.

Recovered from the possession of the two were 50 grams of shabu valued at P340,000 and the buy-bust money paid to them by the poseur.

Both suspects are now being held at the PDEA detention facility in Quezon City, said Villanueva.

He added that he has ordered follow-up operations to identify and arrest the main source of the drugs confiscated from the two.
