Woman selling Pasig condo unit with fake docus nabbed
A WOMAN accused of selling condominium units in Metro Manila to unsuspecting buyers using fraudulent titles and other documents was arrested in an entrapment operation in Pasig City, Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director, Brigadier General Nicolas D. Torre III said yesterday.
The official said that the resident of Cainta, Rizal was apprehended during an entrapment operation at Urban Deca Homes located on Ortigas Extension in Pasig City on Thursday last week.
“This was part of our stepped-up effort to arrest criminals including those involved in estafa and swindling and protect victims as directed by PNP chief, General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil,” the PNP-CIDG director said.
According to him, members of the CIDG National Capital Region Field Unit arrested the accused during a sting triggered by a complaint from a woman identified only as ‘Lee Ann.’
The complainant said she was asked by the suspect to buy a Deca condo unit which turned out to have a falsified Condominium Certificate of Title (CCT).
A verification made by the CIDG-NCRFU with proper authorities revealed that the CCT being presented by the accused is indeed a falsified document.
During the condo viewing, the suspect was caught in the act of possessing and using the fake CCT prompting the CIDG men to place her under arrest.
The woman was charged with violation of Article 315 (Estafa) and Article 172 (Falsification by Private Individuals and Use of Falsified Documents) of the Revised Penal Code before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Pasig City.
