POLICE arrested a 40-year-old woman who allegedly tried to sell a small parcel of land to a security guard which she had already reportedly sold to another buyer in an entrapment operation Monday afternoon in Muntinlupa City.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg said Catherine Gumarang was nabbed by operatives of Muntinlupa City Police in front of SM Tunasan at around 12:30 p.m. after she received the marked money amounting to P50,000 consisting of P5,000 genuine bills and P45,000 boodle money from security guard Phil Jun Yu, 30.

Earlier, Gumarang offered to sell a parcel of land worth P100,000 to Yu and demanded P50,000 as down payment which the victim obliged.

However, he discovered that the property has been sold recently by Gumarang to one Merry Love Fernandez, who claim the ownership of the parcel of land, prompting him to seek police assistance.

Muntinlupa police chief P/Col. Melencio Maddatu Buslig, Jr. instructed his men to conduct an entrapment operation after the suspect demanded the full payment from the victim resulting in her arrest.

P/BGen. Macaraeg reminded those who wanted to buy or lease a land property to check the legitimacy of the transaction, as well as the owner of his or her agent, before giving away cash money.
