RUNNING for vice president in the 2022 elections is the way of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to meet “halfway” her supporters.

In a message posted in her Facebook account, Mayor Sara said she finds the vice presidency an opportunity to heed the call of the Filipino people and to serve the country especially this time that it is is recovering from the pandemic.

“After the deadline, the offer to run for Vice President became an opportunity to meet you halfway. It’s a path that would allow me to heed your call to serve our country, and would make me a stronger person and public servant in the years that lie ahead,” Mayor Sara said.

According to the presidential daughter, she has decided not to run for President but thousands of her supporters keep on calling her to join the race.

“Nagdesisyon na ako na huwag tumakbo pagka-pangulo ng Pilipinas subalit wala pa ring humpay ang inyong panawagan kahit na pagkalipas ng ikawalo ng Oktubre. I have thousands of supporters who cried last oct 8 and I cannot find it in my heart to make them cry again on Nov 15,” she said.

“I am here to answer your call. I appeal to all supporters to stay calm,” the Davao mayor said a day after she filed a certificate of candidacy for vice president under the Lakas-CMD.

Mayor Sara joined the Lakas-CDM hours after she resigned from the Hugpong ng Pagbabago, a regional party that she and other influential politicians from the Davao region had created.

Meanwhile, Mayor said she has nothing to do with the brouhaha in the PDP-Laban, the party of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“The problems of PDP are their own. Let them resolve the issues within their party,” she said.

She told supporters that this is all politics and this will not matter in five years, or even now when what we need to focus on is our country’s recovery and the people’s welfare.

“So let us not be circumspect and stay the course, focused on forging relationships to unite for the good of our country. As we settle down for a peaceful Sunday, let us feflect on the words from Brahma Kumaris: The drama of life consists of elements of both destiny and freedom of choice,” she added.
