What Kim likes about Jerald
JERALD Napoles and Kim Molina, known as the KimJe love team, will shock viewers who saw them doing comedy in “Jowable” and “Ang Babaeng Walang Pakiramdam”. In their new movie, “Ikaw at Ako at ang Ending”, they won’t make people laugh as they play serious roles of two people who live wasted lives and are both “patapon”.
The movie opens with Jerald running away from armed pursuers who are out to kill him. He turns out to be a hitman/ bagman for a crooked politician and he has just stolen the loot from his collections. His wife left him because of his job and won’t even allow him to see their son.
He hides in a hotel resort in Ilocos Norte where Kim is working as a chambermaid. She’s supposed to clean his room and this is how they meet. And eventually fall for each other.
Writer-director Irene Villamor succeeds in making the development of their love affair very believable and somehow, the characters become endearing even if you know both of them are lowlifes who belong to the dregs of society.
Kim’s character admits she used to be a “pokpok” or prostitute from Tondo before she forayed into Ilocos because of a very personal reason (revealing it would be a spoiler). So how did they like portraying their unsavory characters in the film that even required them to do intimate bedscenes?
“This is really different from anything we’ve done before kasi this is drama,” says Kim. “But although mahirap at naiiba ang mga eksena, naging mas madali ang trabaho namin kasi kaming dalawa ang magkasama and at ease na kami sa isa’t isa.”
“That’s trrue,” says Jerald. “When they gave us the script, nag-script reading na kami agad, kasi magkasama naman kami sa bahay. Nagbabatuhan na kami agad ng mga linya namin.”
Since they’re now living in, will they really end up together?
“Well, we talk about our plans, kunsaan papunta ang relasyon namin, kung ano ang kahihinatnan namin,” says Jerald. “But as of now, may pandemic, so wala kaming ibang plano. Ang gusto ko kay Kim is marami pa siyang gustong marating, marami pa siyang gustong matutuhan in her acting skills. Ready siya to do more challenging roles.”
“Ako naman, I like Je kasi hindi siya maramot,” says Kim. “Very honest ako, e. I look at myself as a newbie in acting kumpara sa kanya, kasi I’m more of a singer. Ang maganda kay Je, he shares what he knows about acting and he really helps me out with the script and in our scenes together. Wala akong hindi gusto sa kanya kasi tinanggap ko siya as he is.”
They’re both proud of their film which got lots of positive feedback. “Hindi lang sa amin dapat i-credit ito kasi this is a collaboration ng lahat sa amin, including Direk Irene and even our director of cinematography, lalo in doing the action scenes na mga habulan at patayan,” says Jerald. “I like the energy required sa action genre and we hope to do another film like this in the future.”
Kim and Jerald will definitely surprise viewers as they show a different side of their talent in “IKAW AT AKO AT ANG ENDING” now streaming globally on ktx.ph, iWant TFC, TFC IPTV and on VIVAMAX.
