Wanted man yields three firearms
QUEZON City Police District (QCPD) Acting director Colonel Melecio Buslig Jr. yesterday announced the arrest of a wanted person who yielded three firearms.
Buslig identified the suspect as Rolando Paa, 59, of Bgy. Commonwealth.
In report submitted by Maj. Don Don Llapitan of the District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, Paa was long sought for a murder case issued by the QC Regional Trial Court Branch 215 with no bail recommended.
He was spotted in front of Traffic 5 on Commonwealth Avenue Friday at around 10 a.m.
During body search, cops found a .45 pistol with eight cartridges tucked in his waist.
When asked for the gun’s papers, Paa could not present anything.
Further interrogation showed that Paa was keeping several firearms.
A search in his residence resulted in the confiscation of a 5.56 caliber mm Colt AR-15 M16 A-1 rifle with one magazine and 26 live ammunition and a .38 Armscor revolver; and different types of ammunition.
Busling said that apart from the murder case where he was long sought, Paa also faces violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act.
“Ang operasyon na ito ay isang patunay ng aming patuloy na pagsusumikap na gawing ligtas ang Quezon City mula sa mga kriminal. Hindi namin titigilan ang pagtugis sa mga indibidwal na naglalagay sa ating komunidad sa panganib,” the QC top cop said.
