Waiter dies in Batangas road mishap

A 38-YEAR-OLD waiter died after the motorcycle he was driving accidentally ran over a steel manhole cover along the highway in Bgy. Bolbok, Batangas City, the other day.

Batangas City Police Station investigators PSMS. Casayuran and P/Cpl. Emiliano who immediately proceeded to the scene identified the fatality as Salvador Dimatatac, single, a server, and resident of Bgy. Alalum, San Pascual, Batangas.

Around 6:30 a.m., the City Transportation Development Regulatory Office (TDRO) personnel personally appeared at Batangas City PS (Police Station) and reported the incident.

Initial investigation showed that Dimatatac was seen driving a Yamaha Mio motorcycle around 5:46 a.m. and traveling along the outer lane of Bgy. Bolbok Road, heading towards San Pascual town, unexpectedly ran over a steel manhole cover, and as a result, lost control, swerved, fell, and skidded against the road thereby causing heavy damage to the motorcycle and injury to the driver.

Dimatatac who was bloodied was immediately brought to Batangas Medical Center by the responding City Rescue Team for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician Dr. Guiyab at about 6:30 a.m.

The cadaver of the victim was brought to Funeraria Sol, in Bgy. Natunuan, San Jose, Batangas.

Meanwhile, Lemery Police arrested a man identified as Alvin Melarpis Palonpon in a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Ayao-Iyao, here at 3:45 p.m.

Police confiscated one plastic sachet of shabu weighing about 5 grams including the P1,000 buy-bust money used, 17 pieces of P1,000 boodle money, one small brown envelope, a coin purse containing cash in different denominations, one cal. 38 revolver without a serial number, four pieces of live ammunition, and a sling bag.
