A SUSPECTED top drug personality in Western Visayas was arrested by local anti-narcotics officers in operation in Bacolod City, which led to the seizure of over P1 million worth of shabu on Sunday, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) Director Brigadier General Leo M. Francisco said.

The suspect was placed under arrest during a drug sting in a Bacolod City port conducted jointly by members of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) Special Operations Unit 6, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, Bacolod City Police Station, the local Coast Guard, and the PRO6 Special Operations Group, the official said in a report to PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr.

Members of the PNP-DEG under Brig. Gen. Narciso D. Domingo spearheaded the sting, which targeted the top drug suspect.

Azurin commended his men for their solid cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, which led to the arrest of the suspect, who is now facing non-bailable charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“Tulong-tulong tayo sa pagsugpo ng kriminalidad. This became a success because of the collaborative efforts from various law enforcers,” the PNP chief said.

The PNP chief likewise congratulated the PRO6 for its string of accomplishments in the campaign against most wanted persons.

He cited the arrest of the Western Visayas region’s no. 1 “most wanted person” (MWP) from Hamtic, Antique wanted for a non-bailable rape case last week.

Judge Jojo Cruzat of the San Jose, Antique Regional Trial Court Branch 11 ordered the arrest of the (MWP) last September 8.

Another 5th MWP in the region was arrested and facing a non-bailable warrant of arrest for violation of RA 9165 issued by Judge Cruzat.

“We have accounted for two more most wanted persons in the region in the wake of our intensified effort to account for all wanted criminals and keep the streets safe as ordered by Philippine National Police chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr.,” Francisco said.
