VP Sara resigns as DepEd chief

VICE President Sara Duterte resigned as secretary of the Department of Education.

Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil said Duterte submitted her resignation letter to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr . yesterday.

Duterte also resigned as vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

“At 2:21pm of 19 June 2024, Vice President Sara Duterte, went to Malacanang and tendered her resignation as Member of the Cabinet, Secretary of the Department of Education and Vice Chairperson of the NTF Elcac, effective 19 July 2024,” Garafil said.

“She declined to give a reason why. She will continue to serve as Vice President. We thank her for her service,” Garafil added.

President Marcos has accepted the resignation of Duterte.

First Lady Liza Marcos admitted having ill feelings towards Duterte when the Vice President laughed at former President Rodrigo Duterte’s statement that President Marcos is into drugs.
