HOUSE Deputy Speaker and Batangas Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto may run for the Senate or retire from politics.
Santos-Recto, also known as the Star for All Seasons, said she is looking at two options for next year’s elections as her husband, Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto will end his two consecutive terms in the Senate next year.
“I may run for Senate or retire from politics,” said Santos who is currently serving her second term as congresswoman of the 6th District of Batangas.
“Nothing is final,” Santos-Recto said.
The lady lawmaker served for three terms as mayor of the City of Lipa from 1998 to 2007 and was elected governor of Batangas before winning a congressional seat in 2016.
Well-placed sources said that Sen. Recto will run in the district being represented now by his wife.
