BACOOR City, Cavite — NACIONALISTA Party (NP) matriarch Sen. Cynthia Villar and her son, former Public Works and Highways Sec. Mark Villar shared the stage Thursday morning with Uniteam presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. and vice presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte during a rally here where the leading duo introduced Mark Villar as their senatorial candidate.

The presence of the Villars in the UniTeam event at the Nomo Mall parking here was the first time since the Marcos and Duterte tandem started boosting their winning chances in next year’s polls.

It was observed that Sen. Villar’s dress had the UniTeam colors, red and green.

“(Nandito) si Sec. Mark Villar na susunod na senador, iluluklok po natin siya sa Senado,” Marcos said in his speech, adding that Villar has a proven track record as one of the hard-working Cabinet secretaries of President Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte behind the government’s Build, Build, Build program.

Marcos, standard-bearer of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), also introduced former presidential spokesman Harry Roque of People’s Reform Party (PRP) and ex-Sen. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) as UniTeam‘s senatorial bets during the event organized by the Revilla family led by Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr.

For her part, Duterte, vice presidential aspirant of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), also named Villar, Roque and Estrada as her presidential candidates.

“Ang ating mga senador, Senador Harry Roque, Senador Mark Villar at Senador Jinggoy Estrada,” Duterte said.

Last month the PFP, Lakas-CMD, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) and PMP joined forces to form the UniTeam Alliance.

Earlier, Duterte vowed to work hard to convince other major political parties to join UniTeam.

NP is one of the key political parties in the country.
