Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Friday filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) before the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) office seeking his second term.

Sotto, accompanied by his celebrity parents Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes, arrived at Comelec at around 9 a.m.

“Sa 2022, ang plano natin babawiin natin ‘yung oras na kInuha sa atin ng COVID-19,” he told reporters after filing his CoC.

Sotto, 32, ended the decades-long rule of the Eusebio clan in Pasig City after he defeated former Pasig Mayor Bobby Eusebio in the 2019 mayoralty race.

Sotto first entered politics when he ran for a seat in the Pasig City Council in 2016. He won the election as an independent and served a term in the city council.

He has been lauded for maintaining Pasig’s P12-billion budget despite a drop in government revenues due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before this, Sotto was also hailed as one of the 12 International Anticorruption Champions by the US Department of State on February 24.

Sotto will be running with former Pasig Rep. Robert “Dodot” Jaworski, who filed his CoC for vice mayor.

Jaworski, a former basketball player, ran for mayor in 2007, and returned to the private sector after he lost to former Mayor Bobby Eusebio.

Comelec said October 1 to 8 is the filing of CoC for candidates in the national and local elections.
