ELEMENTS of the District Special Operation Unit (DSOU) of the Northern Police District (NPD) raided an establishment making fake COVID-19 vaccination cards Wednesday evening along C.M. Recto, Manila.

NPD Director P/BGen. Jose Santiago Hidalgo, Jr. said the raid conducted by DSOU operatives led by P/Maj. Vicky Tamayo resulted in the arrest of six individuals, including four women.

The arrested suspects were identified as Geraldine Vargas, 51, of Dagupan St., Tondo, Camille Cressida Halili, 34, of Batanes St. Sampaloc, Janneth Viernes, 42, of D. Aquino St. 4th Avenue, Caloocan City, Gengen Subito, 34, of Oroquieta St. Sta Cruz, Nikko Molina, 18, of Pasillo I Central Market and Ronaldo Benitez, 31, of Int. 2 Brgy. 310 Sta Cruz, Manila.

DSOU chief P/Lt. Col Jay Dimaandal earlier received a tip from a confidential informant that the suspects were selling fake Caloocan and Valenzuela COVID-19 vaccination cards.

At around 6:30 p.m., a police poseur-buyer was able to acquire from the suspects a fake Caloocan City vaccination card for P1,800, prompting operatives to swoop down on the establishment and arrest the suspects.

Recovered from the said establishment were several Caloocan and Valenzuela vaccination cards, fake COVID-19 antigen test results, fake vaccine receipts, equipment use for processing fake documents and marked money used in the entrapment operation.

Case investigator P/MSgt. Julius Mabasa said charges for violation of Art. 172 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Rule XI Section 1 paragraph B of Implementing Rules and Regulation of RA No. 11332 or alleged fake vaccination cards will be filed against the suspects before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
