JAEN, Nueva Ecija – Police discovered that rice was allegedly being traded for shabu following the arrest of a suspected drug pusher and his alleged cohort in a buy-bust operation in this town on Monday night.

“Bigas ipinapalit sa shabu ang alok ng nahuli namin na hinihinalang tulak,” said municipal police head Major Ernesto V. Esguerra.

Esguerra said he discovered the modus after reading the inbox messages contained in the mobile phone of an arrested 40-year-old vendor, who is a resident of Bgy. Malabon-Kaingin, this municipality.

Also nabbed was the vendor’s cohort, a 45-year-old jobless man, of Bgy. San Jose, also of this this town.

The suspects were arrested during an anti-illegal drug operation conducted in Bgy. Dampulan at 11:30 p.m. on Monday.

Seized from the duo were several plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 2.1 grams worth P14,280, and a red Motorstar motorcycle used in the illicit drug trade.

The arrested suspects and the seized pieces of evidence were brought to the police station for proper disposition.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared for inquest-filing against the arrested suspects.
