PAPAL Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Charles Brown announced Auxiliary Bishop of Manila Broderick S. Pabillo’s new mission as Vicar Apostolic of Taytay, Palawan before the Pope’s Day mass at the Manila Cathedral Tuesday, June 29.

“Allow me to announce to you that today, Pope Francis has appointed His Excellency Bp. Broderick Pabillo as Apostolic Vicar of Taytay. The Holy Father is asking you to take on a new and challenging mission in Palawan,” said Brown.

Pabillo will replace Bishop Edgardo Juanich, who resigned as Taytay’s bishop in 2018 due to health reasons.

“I thank the Holy Father, Pope Francis, for his trust in entrusting to my care the Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay in Palawan. It is one of the youngest ecclesiastical jurisdictions within the Metropolitan of Manila, barely 19 years old, and I would say the poorest in terms of material resources as Church. It is also challenging in terms of the location of the Christian communities, crossing mountains and seas to reach them. In a word, it is a mission territory,” Pabillo said in his message before concluding the Pope’s Day mass.

Pabillo had served Palawan as a priest and missionary for several years. By AMADEUS ALBERT QUITCO
