Van driver in fatal Quezon Ave flyover crash nabbed
A 46-YEAR-OLD man was held under police custody after the van he was riding got involved in a motorcycle collision, killing the rider and injuring another in Quezon City on Friday morning.
A report from the Quezon City Police District’s (QCPD) Traffic Sector 6 showed the accident happened along the northbound lane of the Quezon Avenue flyover in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa at around 6:00 a.m.
According to investigators, Reynold Tabbada and Carl John Castaneda were on board a motorcycle when they were hit from behind by a Toyota Hi-Ace commuter van.
Castaneda died on the spot while rescuers rushed Tabbada to the Quezon City General Hospital, where he is recuperating from his injuries.
Police took into custody the van’s driver, Bien Villafuerte, 46, for investigation.
Police are preparing charges against the suspect for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injury, and damage to property.
