DEPUTY Speaker and Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez on Friday thanked National Task Force Against COVID-19 and vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez for his letter Thursday which informed him that additional vaccines will be sent to Cagayan de Oro City.

In his letter, Galvez informed Rodriguez about the latest shipment of vaccines for July which includes 30,029 doses of Sinovac and 20,523 of Janssen jabs.

“I thank Sec. Galvez for giving more allocation of vaccines to CDO which continues to have high incidences of Covid-19 cases and the recent discovery of the Delta variant. I also thank him for visiting CDO last Monday and suggesting that there should be 5,000 daily vaccinations in CDO increasing the present 3,000 a day,” Rodriguez said.

“This means that Sec. Galvez will be sending more vaccines in the coming days to raise vaccinations in CDO to 5,000 daily,” he added.

Galvez meanwhile extended his gratitude to Rodriguez for his “continued support during this time of national crisis.”

On the other hand, Rodriguez also lauded Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) chief Sec. Rolando Bautista for heeding his requests for family food packs (FFPs) and P6,000 cash assistance to be given per family in CDO.

DSWD 10 Regional Director Mari-flor Dollaga-Libang sent an official communication to Rodriguez to notify him about the recent developments on the upcoming distribution of food packs in CDO and on the cash aid that is pending approval by the Department Budget and Management (DBM).

“We sincerely thank Sec. Bautista and RD Dollaga-Libang for their immediate response to our requests and for facilitating them. We need all the help that we can get because our people are unable to work,” Rodriguez stated.

The house leader also underscored the exigency of the situation noting that residents of CDO “are out of work and are hungry.”

“Our people have no income to buy food and be able to feed their families. Time is of the essence. Our assistance should arrive the soonest possible time,” Rodriguez stressed.

It can be recalled that on July 16, Rodriguez wrote a separate letters to President Rodrigo Duterte and Sec. Bautista for food packs and cash assistance of P6k per family in the wake of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) implemented in Cagayan de Oro.
