UST chessers wrest solo lead

UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas took the women’s lead on Sunday after scoring 2.5-1.5 win over Far Eastern University in fifth round of the UAAP chess tournament at FEU Tech gym in Morayta.

The Tigresses moved up to 11 points.

Macydel Fajardo (Board 1) and Josemier Panol (Board 2) emerged victorious while Jamaica Lagrio in Board 3 drew her opponent to secure the win for UST.

Defending champion National University, on the other hand, settled for another 2-2 split, this time against La Salle.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to the second spot with 10.5 points.

Ateneo scored a 3-1 victory University of the Philippines to go up to 8.5 points in third place.

The Lady Archers and the Lady Tamaraws are in joint fourth with eight points, while idle Adamson has 7.5 points in sixth place.

The Fighting Maroons bring up the rear with 6.5 points.
