UNITED States (U.S.) Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff are set to visit Manila next month to reaffirm and further strengthen the U.S.-Philippines alliance.

The U.S. Vice President will meet with government officials and civil society representatives, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.

Jean-Pierre said the Vice President’s visit will “re-affirm and strengthen the U.S.-Philippines Alliance and underscore the breadth of our cooperation as friends, partners, and allies.”

For its part, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said it is closely coordinating with the U.S. Embassy in Manila to finalize the arrangements for the working visit of VP Harris and Emhoff.

In a statement, the DFA said, “The Department of Foreign Affairs looks forward to welcoming Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff in Manila. This will be yet another excellent opportunity to further strengthen our engagement with the United States, following the recent high-level meetings and exchange of visits between our two countries.”

Before visiting Manila, Harris will travel to Bangkok, Thailand, to attend the November 18-19 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Meeting.

The Vice President’s participation will underscore the U.S. commitment to economic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, and she will outline U.S. goals for our APEC host year in 2023.
