AUTHORITIES busted a notorious “Lucky Robbery and Kidnapping Group” involved in a series of robberies of branches of Alfamart, following the arrest of three suspects, including one of their leaders, Tuesday afternoon in Parañaque City.

One of the suspects, identified as alias “Lucky”, and two others were presented to the media by Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg and Parañaque Police Chief P/Col. Maximo Sebastian on Thursday, along with the confiscated evidence recovered from them.

They were collared in a follow-up operation by Parañaque Police after they barged inside another branch of Alfamart Marketing at Meliton Espiritu Compound, Bgy. San Antonio, Parañaque City, at dawn on Tuesday, used a bolt-cutter to destroy a roll-up door padlock and carted away assorted computer equipment and P60,300 taken from the Touch Pay/G-Cash kiosk.

With the help of CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage on a nearby establishment and information from a witness, investigators were able to establish the vehicle, a Nissan Serena van, used by the suspects.

During a follow-up operation, they chanced upon the vehicle at around 12:55 p.m. Tuesday near Molave Compound, Bgy. Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, and resulted in their arrest.

Police recovered a computer monitor, bolt cutter, steel bar, duct tape, three bull caps, and three vehicle license plates inside their vehicle.

Macaraeg said the group was also responsible for the robbery incidents of other Alfamart Convenience stores in Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, and the provinces of Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, and Laguna using the same modus.
