THE UniTeam presidential-vice presidential tandem of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte vowed on Saturday to strengthen law enforcement in the country if they win in the May 9 elections.

“Lahat po ng law enforcement sa ating bansa, ipa-strengthen. Hindi lang po kontra droga, kontra terrorism, kontra criminality, lahat po ‘yun, (pati) anti-insurgency,” Duterte told reporters at her meet-and-greet with various sectoral groups at Marymount Academy Gym, J. Villaroman St., Classic Homes, BF Homes, in Parañaque City organized by Rep. Joy Tambunting and former Rep.

Gus Tambunting, who is running for Congress.

“Lahat po ‘yun dahil ang gusto ng lahat (ng Pilipino) ay mapayapang pamumuhay hindi lang po dito sa ating bansa but sa buong mundo and ‘yan po ang commitment ng UniTeam,” Duterte said.

Duterte thanked Parañaque City officials and residents for the warm welcome her group received and for their expression of support.

Though they are grouped under UniTeam, Duterte is seeking the vice presidency under Lakas Christian-Muslim Democrats (CMD), while BBM is running under Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).

Lakas-CMD President and House Majority Leader Martin G. Romualdez, who accompanied Duterte, expressed elation over the vigorous and enthusiastic reception they received.

“Nagagalak po kami, maganda ang pagtanggap sa amin dito sa Parañaque,” Romualdez told reporters in an ambush interview.

It is such kind of welcome and support that would propel the BBM-Sara tandem higher in surveys in the days ahead, Romualdez said.

“Bilang presidente ng Lakas-CMD, makikita natin sa mga survey, mayroon kaming mas comprehensive na survey, very sensitive ngayon ang surveys. Tataas pa sina BBM-Sara kasi tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang pag-iikot nila. Kailangan talaga patuloy ang pagbigay ng mensahe at paghingi ng suporta para sa halalan sa Mayo,” Romualdez stressed.

During the meet-greet, Parañaque City Rep. Joy Tambunting appealed to her constituents to support the UniTeam tandem.

“Naniniwala ako na dapat isang babae talaga ang maging bise presidente natin…sa mga minamahal kong kababayan dito sa Paranaque, hinihiling ko po sa inyo, suportahan po niyo ang ating minamahal na bise presidente, Sara Duterte,” Tambunting told her constituents during the meet-and-greet.

Her husband Gus, who is seeking a congressional comeback, echoed her appeal.

“Ako ay nakikiusap, tiklop-luhod akong nakikiusap na pagdating ng eleksiyon, pagdating sa botohan ay tukungan natin ang ating panauhing pandangal dahil siya ay marunong at magaling. Iyung ipinakita niyang galing sa Davao ay ipapakita niya sa buong Pilipinas,” Gus Tambunting said in his separate speech.

Duterte and Marcos paid a courtesy call on Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez at the Olivarez College Gymnasium.

The UniTeam was scheduled late afternoon Saturday to hold a grand rally at the Aseana City, Bradco Avenue, Corner Diokno Avenue, Parañaque City. With Jester Manalastas
