Unfaithful cop arrested
A 36-year-old policeman accused of concubinage was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group inside a small hotel in Makati City last week, PNP-IMEG director Brigadier General Warren F. De Leon said yesterday.
Police Master Sergeant John Mollenido, a member of the Quezon City Police District was tracked down inside a room at the Airobez Hotel Makati located at No. 5487 Boyle Street following a tip from a staff member, said the official.
Members of the IMEG National Capital Region, the NCR Police Office’s Regional Special Operations Group, and the Makati City Police Station jointly served the warrant of arrest for concubinage issued against the accused by Judge Antonio Del Val of the Tanza Municipal Trial Court in Cavite last September 29.
The suspect was taken to the IMEG lock-up facility in Camp Crame pending his posting of a P30,000 bail required by the court.
“Bilang pagsuporta sa 5-Focus Agenda ng ating CPNP, ang aming hanay ay hindi kokonsintihin ang mga imoral na gawain ng iilang miyembro ng ating kapulisyahan, lalo na at ito ay nagdudulot ng pagkasira ng kanilang pamilya,” Brig. Gen. De Leon said.
Under the Revised Penal Code, both concubinage and adultery are treated as sexual infidelity in the Family Code.
In committing concubinage, a husband may be imprisoned for up to four years and 1 day. The crime of concubinage also is being committed by a husband and his concubine but requires that the wife must prove that her husband has kept a mistress in the conjugal dwelling or has had sexual intercourse under ‘scandalous circumstances’ or lived together with his mistress in any other place.
