DURING her stint as Davao City Mayor, vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte made the city eight richest and fourth most competitive.

Mayor Sara said she is leaving the city debt-free after her administration was able to pay all the obligations amounting to P1 billion.

Mayor Sara cited these accomplishments during the State of the City Address (SOCA), which is her last as she is vying for the 2nd highest position of the land.

“I have been called to join the race for a bigger challenge. This is a challenge that gives me the opportunity to spread my wings wider, to soar higher, and reach new heights — with the support of our fellow Filipinos — for our beloved country,” Mayor Sara told her constituents.

The presidential daughter thanked the Dabawenyos for the never-ending support since 2007, when she first got elected as vice mayor.

“My heartfelt gratitude goes out to all the Dabawenyos. Your patience in letting me grow from a shy neophyte in 2007 to a confident leader today is a gift not all public servants are lucky enough to receive,” Mayor Sara said.

“You gave me wings and you taught me how to fly. Your love made me who I am today,” she added.

She also reiterated how being a leader gave her “nightmares and mental anguish,” but was still humbled in knowing that the Dabawenyos were behind a young, woman politician who wants to serve and continue the family’s long, rich, and valued history of public service.

“It’s been an honor — a great, great honor — to have been chosen by you. And it’s been a pleasure to make not only memories with you — but also history.

“Allow me to formally — and with a heavy heart — say farewell,” said the chairman of Lakas-CMD and Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

In her SOCA, She highlighted the “fruits of our hard work” by enumerating the city’s various successes and accomplishments, as well as the programs and projects done through the “Byaheng DO30.”
