TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – This first-class municipality, which is aiming to become Nueva Ecija’s sixth component city, recorded its biggest political campaign rally so far in the town’s entire history during the proclamation of all local bets held here on Saturday night, March 26, 2022.

A mammoth crowd of over 18,000 Novo Ecijanos joined the event at the proposed six-hectare New Government Site in Bgy. Dinarayat here.

The proclamation rally was led by Team “Unang Sigaw Partido ng Pagbabago” and Team “Kaunlaran” led respectively by re-electionist Gov. Aurelio M. Umali and Mayor Nerivi Santos-Martinez, now running for vice mayor.

Addressing the huge crowd, Umali endorsed the candidacies of Liga ng Barangay president JR Santos Jr. for mayor and his sister, outgoing mayor Santos-Martinez for vice mayor, and their entire Team Kaunlaran slate for councilor.

In endorsing the two siblings, Umali said he wants progress and development to continue in the town amid plans by the municipal government to seek cityhood conversion with the entry of the new administration after the May elections.

A highlight of the event was when Umali, his brother-reelectionist Vice Gov. Emmanuel Antonio Umali raised the hands of Santos Jr. and Santos-Martinez and their councilor-bets – Rai-Rai Villanueva, Ericka Mendoza, Erwin Chioco, Joel Del Rosario, Baby Palilio, Nel Rayo, Ape Reyes, and Lito Silva.

Also present and endorsed as 1st district congressional bet was Mika Suansing to replace her mother, outgoing Rep. Ging Suansing, and as board member bets were reelectionists Ler De Guzman, Rap Rap Villanueva, and Eric Daniel Salazar.

“Isang makasaysayang gabi ang ating natunghayan matapos tayong magsama-sama sa pinakamalaking pagtitipon para ipagdiwang ang halos dalawang dekada ng tagumpay at kaunlaran ng bayan ng Talavera,” said Santos-Martinez.

Her father, municipal administrator, and former 3-term mayor Nerito “Nery” Santos Sr. said the event showcases the local administration’s present and future plans for “Bagong Talavera” where the spirit of true public service, love, and compassion will reign.
