UAE SENDS RELIEF AID FOR CARINA VICTIMS

TOP government officials on Tuesday welcomed the arrival of 800 metric tons of relief goods sent by the United Arab Emirates government to help victims of the powerful typhoon ‘Carina.’

The arrival of the relief goods at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 in Pasay City was welcomed by Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Special Envoy for Trade to the UAE Kathryna Yu-Pimentel and representatives from the Office of the First Lady led by Christine Kate Lleno.

The humanitarian assistance for the ‘Carina’ victims were delivered through UAE Ambassador Mohamed Obaid Alqataam Alzaabi.

Their arrival and transport was secured by the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group headed by Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano.

Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Eric Jose Castro Ines and Bureau of Customs NAIA District Collector Atty. Maria Yasmin M. Obillos-Mapa also oversaw the immediate release of the cargo.

According to Special Envoy Yu-Pimentel, the donation followed the recent visit of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos to the UAE.

She also expressed gratitude for the humanitarian assistance provided by the UAE, particularly UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and UAE Ambassador Alzaabi.

Brig. Gen. Abrahano assured that PNP AVSEGROUP and other airport authorities are committed to secure humanitarian assistance from other countries.
