THE UAAP remains on track for the staging of coronavirus-stalled Season 84.

With the acceleration of the vaccination drive, league president Nong Calanog of host La Salle said that the men’s basketball tournament is plotted for a mid-February 2022 opening.

“That will depend on when we can get our athletes back to training, we want to make sure they are ready for competition,” said Calanog.

The Commission of Higher Education yesterday held a vaccination drive, with student-athletes from UAAP member schools present at the CHED headquarters.

Calanog said that the UAAP aims to begin training for basketball athletes by Nov. 1.

The jabbed student-athletes will be then placed in a bubble training.

Calanog added that the league’s volleyball and basketball athletes are 100% fully vaccinated.

Competition for women’s volleyball, Calanog said, will be held right after the Holy Week.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UAAP o scrapped the second semester Season 82 events and saw the entire Season 83 canceled.
