IT is certainly heartening to know that President Marcos’s administration is determined to continue extending assistance to typhoon victims.

Various quarters said the Marcos government’s decision reflects his concern over the welfare of the people.

Particularly the millions of people adversely affected by the recent destructive typhoons, storms and flooding in various parts of the country.

Note that every year, the Philippines, an agricultural nation, is visited by an average of 20 howlers, killing people and destroying crops and infrastructure.

As a result, many of these disaster victims find it hard to meet their daily needs, especially food, medicines and other basic necessities.

That’s why we commend President Marcos for pledging continued government assistance to the suffering typhoon victims.

In fact, President Marcos assured the Filipino people that relief efforts will continue until they no longer require government assistance.

“We will continue ro distribute relief goods hanggang hindi na nangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan,” he vowed.

As a well-meaning Filipino, we cannot overemphasize the importance of supporting the government in its efforts to help the calamity victims.

Ensuring the health, safety and well-being of the people during trying times is a move in the right direction.
