Tune-up game turns into ‘basketbrawl’ in Cavite
DASMARIÑAS CITY, Cavite – “So shameful, So disheartening, Where is the spirit of sportsmanship? Where are our barangay officials who are supposed to maintain peace and order within the barangay? What about the coaches and trainers? What did they do?”
Here are the words from the post of Cavite 4th District Congressman Elpidio “Pidi” Barzaga on his social media page on the incident that happened in an inter-barangay basketball league in the locality.
Barzaga formed an ad hoc committee to investigate the incident and the corresponding penalties, including the suspension of players and coaches from the participating teams in the brawl.
The video in Cong. Barzaga’s post shows the chaos between the players and spectators between Barangay San Mateo and Barangay San Francisco 1 that ended in the throwing of plastic seats. By Dennis Abrina
