DEPARTMENT of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade has put an end to the rampant counterfeiting business of S-PASS or Safe, Swift and Smart Passage in Batangas Port.
This is the result of Tugade’s swift action after he came to know about the chronic fake S-PASS that the victim was the passengers at the port.
Based on the secretary’s directive, Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Atty. Jay Daniel Santiago commanded the private operator of its Asian Terminals Incorporated (ATI) to use a so -called QR code scanner.
With the use of the scanner, the PPA leadership will immediately identified the fake S-PASS before they entered the port, which is why the said modus operandi stopped completely.
It will be recalled that Tugade ordered the use of S-PASS on all passengers who will use the port in response by the DOTr to the rule enforced by the government in travelling during the pandemic.
