MAJOR transport groups will file a petition for an additional P3 provisionary fare increase Wednesday before the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

In an interview, Roberto “Obet” Martin, national president of Pasang-Masada — one of the transport groups, said their legal counsel is ready to file its petition of provisional fare increase Wednesday morning.

“Kung ma-approve ng Board, P12 ang magiging pamasahe from the existing P9 in regular fare sa Metro Manila, Region 3 and Region 4,” Martin said.

Martin emphasized that the transport groups could no longer shoulder the continuous increases of petroleum products particularly diesel.

“P50 na po per liter ang diesel, ibabalik din po namin sa dating pamasahe kapag bumalik sa mababang presyo ang diesel, kaya po provisional increase ang sinampa namin,” said Martin.

In separate interview Melecion Vargas, National President of Alliance of Transport Drivers Operators o the Philippines (ALTODAP) corroborated with the statements of Martin.

“Talagang mataas ang diesel,” said Vargas.

Meanwhile, Lawyer Vigor Mendoza II, national president of Kilusan Sa Pagbabago sa Industriya ng Transportasyon (KAPIT) and fleet operator of Beef Jeep said his group can still carry the increase in prices of petroleum products.

The Beef Jeep of Mendoza have been actively participating in the “Libreng Sakay” program of Department of Transportation and LTFRB since pandemic.

“So far kaya pa naman may natitira pa, ika nga serbisyo publiko para sa bayan bago kita o profit,” said Mendoza II.

#LABAN TNVS national president Leonardo De Leon jr., assured the public that there is no fare increase in their group.

“Wala pong increase ang TNVS,” said De Leon.
