TOXIC BEHAVIOR
TINGOG Party-list Representative Jude Acidre called out Vice President Sara Duterte for what he described as “toxic behavior” that reflects poorly on her role as the second-highest official of the land.
Acidre then urged Duterte to just address the controversies surrounding her use of confidential funds rather than resort to “drama.”
“Bilang Bise Presidente, hindi dapat siya umaakto na parang wala sa tamang kaisipan. Her toxic behavior is concerning and may reflect an alarming state of mind. This does not suit her, especially given the dignity of her office,” Acidre said.
“Hindi na niya binigyan ng dignidad ang kanyang tanggapan. What happened was a meltdown, plain and simple. And she said many bad things pa na dapat ay hindi naririnig ng ating mga kabataan mula sa kanilang mga lider sa gobyerno,” he added.
Acidre’s remarks come in reaction to Duterte’s public outbursts, including her decision to camp out at the House of Representatives and her statements targeting key government officials.
“Her actions and words raise serious questions about her priorities as a leader. Instead of addressing the issues at hand, she is diverting attention with theatrics,” he added.
The lawmaker emphasized that Duterte’s primary responsibility is to explain the alleged misuse of confidential funds allocated to the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and during her tenure as Education Secretary.
“Napakasimple lang naman po ng hinihingi natin: magpaliwanag. Kailangang maipaliwanag niya kung paano ginamit o inabuso ang milyong pondong inilaan para sa OVP at DepEd,” Acidre said.
“Pero mukha yatang hindi niya kayang ipaliwanag kaya nagwala na lang siya. Nagtantrum,” he added.
The congressman also reacted to Duterte’s statements in a viral video, in which she launched personal attacks against political leaders, including Speaker Martin Romualdez.
“Such language and behavior are unacceptable from anyone, much more from the vice president,” Acidre said.
“She should remember that her words carry weight and have consequences.”
Acidre warned that her behavior could further erode public trust in her leadership,.
The Tingog representative urged the Vice President to take a step back and approach the issues with composure and integrity.
Acidre further highlighted the importance of accountability in public office.
“Confidential funds are taxpayers’ money. Ang bawat sentimo nito ay dapat mapunta sa tamang paggamit. She owes it to the Filipino people to explain herself,” he stressed.
