Top meets bottom in V-League
TOP meets bottom as unbeaten Far Eastern University and University of the East face winless San Sebastian and Lyceum of the Philippines University, respectively, at resumption of the V-League Collegiate Conference today at the Paco Arena.
Rains spawned by Typhoon Hanna forced the organizing Sports Vision to postpone the scheduled Friday matches but with the weather improving, volley action, both in the women’s and men’s sides, is back with another four-game bill.
But while the Lady Tamaraws and the Lady Warriors expect the Lady Stags and the Lady Pirates to go all-out not just to stop them but more importantly to finally get into the winning act, observers believe it will take more hunger for the SSC and Lyceum, which both lost their first four games, to derail FEU and UE, which, in contrast, swept their first four matches.
The Lady Tamaraws tangle with the Lady Stags at 2 p.m. while the Lady Warriors collide with the Lady Pirates in the 4 p.m. main game.
In men’s play,, San Beda and Emilio Aguinaldo College clash in a duel of winless teams at 10 a.m. while UST shoots for its fourth victory in five matches against FEU, which is out to break a 2-2 record, at 12 noon.
Meanwhile, top rookie hitter Jelai Gajero remains a doubtful starter after the California Precision Academy standout sustained a left knee injury in the Lady Warriors’ five-set escape over University of Perpetual Help last Wednesday.
The Lady Warriors have yet to give an update on her status.
Games are aired on Solar Sports, the V-League’s official website, and Bola.TV’s app.
The postponed matches pitting San Beda vs National University and Ateneo and La Salle (men’s) and Mapua vs San Sebastian and Enderun College against College of St. Benilde (women’s) will be played at a date yet to be announced.
