TNT wins again

TNT continued its climb back to the top, beating Phoenix Super LPG, 87-72, in the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup at thr Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Mikey Williams and Roger Pogoy provided the 1-2 punch for the Tropang Giga, who outscored the Fuel Masters, 44-26, in the final two quarters to notch their third straight win since an 89-90 setback to NLEX last June 16.

Williams finished with 20 points on 10-of-20 shooting, while Pogoy added 20 points on 7-of-15 clip as the Tropang Giga climbed to 5-2 overall.

Williams, the reigning Rookie of the Year, also had six rebounds and seven assists.

“I’m getting there,” said Williams in an interview posted at the official PBA website.

“I know it’s not gonna be easy, but I feel I’m in great shape but I may not look like it yet,”added Williams, who struggled with 15 points on 5-of-20 shooting in their 89-85 overtine win over Rain or Shine last Thursday.

Sean Anthony finished with a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds for Phoenix, which dropped tro 2-4.

Tyler Tio also had 13 markers.

Jason Perkins, however missed the gsme for Phoenix due to health and safety protocols.

Late Saturday, Blackwater dmolished Terrafirma, 107-70, while NLEX outclassed Meralco, 90-75.

Rookie Ato Ular scattered 16 points and five other players scored n double figures as the Bossing posted back-to-back games for the first time in three years and improved to 3-1 overall in a tie with San Miguel Beer.

Backing up Ular were Jvee Casio (14 points), Yousef Taha (12), Mark Dyke (11), Barkley Ebona (11) and James Sena (11) for the Bossing of coach Ariel Vanguardia.

Later, Don Trollano scored11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter as the Road Warriors outlasted the Bolts.

JR Quinahan, Justin Chua, Kavin Alas and Calvin Oftana also produced solid numbers for NLEX, which bounced back from 75-83 setback to Ginebra last Wednesday.
