THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) announced on Tuesday that some Talk ‘N Text players have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Four TNT Tropang Giga players have returned tests that were either positive or need to be confirmed for COVID-19 under government approved league protocols,” the PBA said in a statement on Tuesday.

The league said the players are now isolated and will be tested again while the rest of the team who tested negative are also isolated and will be retested.

For being TNT’s opponent on Saturday, Terrafirma players have to be isolated too, but according to the PBA, “[The] Terrafirma Dyip all tested negative,” although they too have to be retested as well.

With the new development, the scheduled games of TNT and Terrafirma for Wednesday have been postponed to a later date.

The Dyip were supposed to face the Alaska Aces in the first game of a scheduled triple-header at 12:30 p.m., while the Tropang Giga were to take on the Magnolia Hotshots in the nightcap at 6 p.m.

But instead, Magnolia will have Alaska as its opponent for Wednesday night.

Alaska and Magnolia look to join opening weekend big winners Meralco and Rain Or Shine at the top of the standings at 2-0.

Meanwhile, Phoenix and NorthPort will face off as scheduled on Wednesday as their 3 p.m. game has not been affected by the changes. Philippine News Agency
